Ark Lodge Cinema is a small independently owned movie theatre in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood. We were tasked with a complete rebrand of the business from the ground up, culminating in a new brand guidelines package for the client. The challenge was to appeal to a new generation of clientele, while keeping the spirit and unique character of Ark Lodge alive.
Starting with rediscovering their core values and mission statement, we found the voice of the brand before moving into the visual design. Looking at the history of the business and their current branding, we found a lot of rich history connected to the Mason Lodge that used to be located there and wanted to keep that aspect of the brand.

The logo, brand colors and typography were chosen based on a reimagining of their initial brand concept that we dubbed, "Retro-futurist mysticism". That then informed the general graphic treatment for all of the collateral.
It was then a matter of designing the entire Ark Lodge Cinema experience, from the popcorn bags and tickets to the environmental design. We ended up with a campaign that gives a new voice to an established and loved local business that will bring in new clientele and keep the theatre feeling exciting and alive.
